ALL SYSTEMS CHICAGO

Welcome to our site!
Hope you like our idea to develop a video game to fight
childhood obesity through knowledge of the streets of Chicago and three main body sysems.  All together it's ALL SYSTEMS GO.

IF YOU ALSO HAVE A GREAT IDEA PLEASE CONTACT US WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

We all have important values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. Sometimes we feel our ideas can even change the world, and we want to let other people know how they can join in and make all our lives better.

GRANT NOTES: GAME: All Systems ChicaGO: To fight childhood obesity in Chicago kids by building a knowledge of what happens when they eat and exercise. The game will have an animated image of the heart, lungs, and digestive system. It will also have a map of Chicago with an animated figure of a child that will walk to certain points of interest in Chicago. The systems of the body will be shown talking individual steps indicating the food, oxygen and blood making their way through the digestive system respiratory system and circulatory system. The animated child’s body will take on the structure of the results of food selections and exercises. The animated character will take a hike through Chicago’s downtown and various nearby neighborhoods, parks and museums. This game will show how many calories are burned by walking and how many are accumulated by eating. The child will first find their age and height and determine how many calories they need in one day. Before the game begins each child will start out with a certain amount of calories from breakfast. They will draw cards that would be from an ordinary deck of cards with suites of hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds. The object of the game is for the food to digest through the digestive system, the blood circulate through the heart and the oxygen circulate through the lungs while maintaining not too much or too little calories and walking the appropriate distance. The child will became aware of how many calories are burned by walked to certain points of interest in Chicago. The child will begin in a location in Chicago and when it is their turn they will pick a card already having their breakfast calories to begin the journey. They will draw one of these cards. Hearts, clubs, spades or diamonds. If clubs: (the club will look like a spoon) a point will move that many times through the digestive system. If hearts: The point will move that many times through the circulatory system If spades: (the spade will look like an air sack) the point will move that many times through the lungs. If diamonds: The animated child will move a point on the board. The child’s names will be either Chicago Joe or Chicago Sheila. The animated character will stop at one of Chicago’s fast food restaurants such as MacDonalds, Burger King or Wendys. When they arrive at these points they will make their selection of food. When all three systems of the body have completed their cycle one time the animated character will be at a perfect weight therefore winning the game, underweight or over weight. The animated figure’s size will be determined by the amount of calories consumed, the type of calories, and the amount of walking. If the animated character has gained too much weight or have not received the right type of calories the player will get a message finding out which foods caused the problem or how much more walking they would have needed to do in order to burn up more calories. The object of the game will be for the character to maintain a healthy diet through proper food selections and to walk a good distance through Chicago. The winner is the result of the luck of the cards as well as the selection of food. The end result of the game will be the knowledge that the child has gained by playing this game about making healthy food choices and the amount of distance to walk to certain points that will burn certain calories. The child will have the additional knowledge of three important systems in the body and how they work.
